Working with your toddler

Suggested Toddler Activities in Sacramento Area - contributed by Pint-Sized Picassos parents
(Please call ahead to verify days, times, and prices.)

  • All Libraries- Look for toddler programs i.e.: story times, performances, and special events.
  • Sacramento Zoo- Sutterville Road & Land Park Drive 3930 West Lake Park, Phone: 264-5885 Open 9-4pm daily. General- $7.50 3-12 years- $5 2 & Under- FREE
  • Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary-They have a choo-choo train. Phone: 351-3527. Open Tues-Sun 10-4pm (& Mondays that are holidays). 13 & up- $3 5-12 years-$2 4 & under are FREE
  • Fairytale Town - 3901 Land Park Drive (across from the Zoo)
    Phone: 264-5233 Gray Day #: 264-7462. Open 9-4pm daily (can stay until 5) Good weather only! General- $3.75 Weekends- $4 2 & under- FREE
  • Borders Books- Weekly Story Time for toddlers Tuesdays at 10:30am
    Occasional Special Events i.e.: Francie Dillon in concert on rotating Tuesdays- check your nearest location.

  • McClellan Aviation Museum- Get to go inside the airplanes!

  • Meetup.com (Sacramento moms) - This is a group for working and stay at home moms. The group meets for conversation, special events, and networking. Membership dues $15.76/year.
  • Parents' Monthly Magazine - Free Sacramento-area magazine covering parenting and childhood development resources.
  • Railroad Museum- Climb on trains! Phone: 445-6645 Open 10-5pm daily

  • Nimbus Fish Hatchery- You can feed the fish, visit the museum & see a movie!

  • Arden Fair Mall Carousel- $2 a ride or $5 for 3 rides, Phone: 922-4257,

    For ages 2-12 FREE admission, must buy tickets for the rides.
  • Pump It Up- Large inflated jump toys! 11280 Saunders Drive, Rancho Cordova, Phone: 635-8881 Call first! First come first serve basis. $5 per child under 2 FREE with a paid child or $2.50. Open family play- Tues, Thurs, & Fri 10-11:30am
  • Roseville Galleria- There is a good outdoor play area.

  • Bertha Henschel Park- Toddler pool- open in the summer 160 45th Street (Corner of B Street & 45th) Phone: 264-5200 FREE
  • East Portal Park- Great fenced in play area
    Rodeo & Dover Avenue (off of J Street on Rodeo)
  • William Land Park-Feed the ducks, pony rides, & water mushrooms
    (Northwest section of park) Phone: 399-8171

  • McKinley Park - Feed the ducks, rose garden
    Midtown- H Street & McKinley
  • Tahoe Park - Playground has two separate areas for 2-5 year olds and larger kids. The children's pool is larger than those found at other parks in the area (up to 3ft deep) and has a beach entry on one end and long, flat steps on the other. Shade structure and trees surround the pool.

  • Southside Park - Recently built playground with solar system theme and many wheelchair accessible play features. Pool and water mushroom.
